Started in 1989 by Beth Greene, The Greene School of Irish Dance began with Beth’s desire to share her Irish culture and heritage with the Halifax community. Greene, who immigrated with her family to Nova Scotia from Ireland in 1974, now teaches alongside her daughter Sinead to run the largest Irish Dance School in Nova Scotia. The Greene School has produced numerous top ten Canadian Champions, and several dancers have represented the school at the World Irish Dancing Championships. They have also danced for many prestigious events including the G7 Summit, The Royal Nova Scotia Military Tattoo and Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The studio is located at the North Woodside Community Centre on Pleasant Street in Dartmouth, NS.
